General Motors to Adopt New Batteries in 2028

General Motors has announced it will begin using LMR batteries in its large electric vehicles starting in 2028. These batteries rely on a new manganese-rich chemical composition that is less expensive than nickel and cobalt batteries while offering longer range and higher efficiency. This shift is expected to enhance the profitability of the EV segment and reflect positively on GM’s stock.

From a technical perspective, GM stock closed above the $49 support level, and prices are likely to target the $54.50 resistance level. The outlook is further supported by a bullish crossover between the 10-day and 20-day moving averages, and confirmed by the Stochastic indicator holding above the 80 level, signaling strong buying momentum. This scenario would be invalidated if the aforementioned support level is broken to the downside.
